The Jehovah’s Witnesses movement started in Rawtenstall in 1942 in a room on Bury Road. In the 1950s they moved into the former theatre in the Grand Buildings, Cheapside Rawtenstall. They stayed in this building until the 1960s when first they moved to 215 Bacup Road and then to 255 Bacup Road where they said until 1988.
On the 10th December 1988 the church moved to its current location on Todd Carr Road, Waterfoot. The new church was built in just four day when close to one thousand volunteers from Britain and Germany gathered to construct the building at a cost of £100,000 and able to hold 300 people.
