Springside Methodist Church
Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall
Springside Methodist Church came into being because of
an increase of members at Longholme Church following a
visit by Murphy the temperance reformer. The first
church was known as the Tin Mission and it's foundation
stone was laid on the 10th of June 1882. This building
served the congregation until the early nineteen
hundreds when on the 15th October 1904 the foundation
stone was laid for a new church. The second church was
built a cost of £2,000 and held its first service in
October 1905. The church finally closed its door in
1968. The building is now a private dwelling split into
ten appartments.
